Come celebrate Valentines Day with a little civic involvement. Your DFL Senate District Central Committee is sponsoring a candidate forum with Marion Greene, Katie Hatt & Tom Nordyke at Jefferson Elementary from 1-2pm on Valentines Day Feb 14th. They are running for the State Representative seat being vacated by Margaret Anderson-Kelliher.
Jefferson Elementary is located at 1200 W 26th Street in the Wedge neighborhood. There is no cost and all are welcome. You will be able to hear these three fine candidates address a series of questions which you may have input into.
Please plan to attend. Questions? Call Scott Graham 612-597-7778.
This is a Ranked Choice Voting education event on Tuesday, September 15, the day that would have been the Primary Election had Ranked Choice Voting (aka Instant Runoff Voting) not been adopted by voters in 2006.
Attendees will learn about how to vote using RCV and then practice by ranking their choices for declared and presumptive DFL governor candidates.
Results will be announced at each location that night, with ballots later tallied for a city-wide result.
This is meant to be a realistic voting experience, so attendees will feel comfortable when they go into the voting booth on November 3.
Learn more at the Majority Rules website.

This Saturday, the SD60 DFL will have a table at the East Harriet Rose Fest from noon to 8 p.m. We need help staffing this table to recruit volunteers and register voters. This is a very rich neighborhood for us – while most of us think of this area as stable and high turnout (which it is), there are many rental properties clustered around 36th & 37th streets, full of potential voters who need to register.
If you can help, even for a couple hours, please email Joel Bergstrom via the contact form.
On Saturday, August 9th, the coordinated campaign of all participating candidates is sponsoring a doorknock of unidentified voters in Senate District 60.
Each SD 60 volunteer will have a walklist with names and addresses of voters whose party preference we don’t know and want to learn, if possible, for entry in our VAN database, so we’ll know whom to contact, and not to contact, for the November election.
We plan to meet at:
10 o’clock and 2 o’clock, Saturday, Aug. 9th
At Painter Park, 34th Street & Lyndale Ave. (this is a change
Thanks for your help knocking on doors and recruiting others to help this past Saturday. We had a very successful event.
All told we had 32 volunteers knock on the doors of 2140 people which resulted in 382 contacts. That is roughly an 18% contact rate, which is amazing! Congratulations. It was the best turnout of all the doorknocks in the state this weekend and one of the most successful of the election year. Know that the id's obtained from this and other doorknocks provide the coordinated campaign with the information needed to win on November 4--the personal contact of a doorknock truly is invaluable.
Some of you were unable to join us . . . rest assured you'll get more opportunities. We intend to plan a series of weekend doorknocks through election day eventually hitting each and every precinct. If you would like to plan for a knock specific to your precinct, let me know via our contact page.
